The route can be done in seven or eight days. We recommend the eight days as it gives you more time to acclimatize and leave you relaxed and enjoy the trekking all the time.

Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport

Pick up from airport and transfer to accommodation in Arusha for an overnight stay.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Simba Camp (2600m)

In the morning, we will head to Marangu Park gate for registration before commencing our hike on the Rongai trail though rainforests towards the Simba camp. The hiking will be in the ever green forest with different kinds of trees and flowers such as the gladiola,protea and elephant trunk.

Day 2: Kikelelwa Cave (3600m) (For seven days hiking the second day will be at Second Cave which is 3100m)

Hiking time: 7hrs to Kikelelwa and 3-4hrs to the Second Cave.

We continue our hiking across moorlands towards Kibo,passing second cave (3450m) en-route before reaching Kikelwa Cave.The views start to open up and offer a great view of the water streams below inside the cave.

 

Day 3: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m)

Hiking time: 4hrs

On this day,we will walk towards the jagged pinnacles of Mawenzi and camp at Mawenzi Tarn Camp.It is a short but steep climb and offers stunning views of the wilderness area.The vegetation zone ends shortly before we reach our next camp at Mawenzi.

 

Day 4: Kibo Hut (4700m)

We will cross a desert area known as the Saddle,situated between Mawenzi and Kibo towards Kibo Hut and make our final preparations and rest before commencing our hike towards the summit in the mid night.You will have you lunch and enough time to rest with a very early dinner again to give you more time to rest for the mid night hiking to the summit which will be passing through the Gilmans point 5681m before meeting people hiking from other routes at Stella Point 5751m joining them towards the Uhuru peak 5895m.This is 7-8hrs from Kibo hut and descend is 3hrs back t Kibo Hut.

You will have lunch and a short rest before hiking down 3hrs to the Horombo Hut 3700m

 

Day 5: Kibo Hut 4700m – Horombo (3700m)

Hiking time : 3hrs

After the summit you will descend back to the Kibo hut and have a short rest and rest and later lunch and descend to the Horombo Hut passing through saddle area before getting back to the heathers and moorland zone.At Horombo you will continue meeting people ascending through the Marangu route the only route that can be used for ascending and descending to the summit.

 

Day 6: Horombo Hut 3700m – Marangu Gate (1980m)

Hiking time : 6 – 7hrs

On our final day,we will leave Horombo Hut,heading towards the Marangu Gate before getting to Mandara Hut 2700m you can pass and see the Maundi Crater which offers the great view of Lake Chala which is at the border of Kenya and Tanzania and there after continue walking to the ever green rain forest where we can see two different specimen of Monkey(the blue Monkey and black and white colobus Monkey and lots of different kind of birds and flowers.

You will get your certificates at the gate with a short break for lunch and head back towards Arusha for a relaxed afternoon and dinner and overnight at the Hotel

Day 7: Departure Day

You will be transferred to the Air port for departure.
